The name African Turquoise is a common trade name yet a bit of a misnomer as geologically,  this stone isn't turquoise at all! It is a variety of spotted teal jasper that is mined in Africa. The stone's beautiful organic look is derived from the mineral content of the stone - crystal quartz, copper, and iron.

These semiprecious beads have a matrix structure similar to that of turquoise, and are light bluish-green and other earth tones in color.
