Tiger's Eye Bolo Tie, Polished Oval western tie. Leather bola necklace

$ 66.75

You'll be super wowed by these beauties - classic, timeless oval shape. They're very highly polished, patterned and flashy. Tiger's eye in all colors displays an amazing chatoyancy - chatoyance is an optical phenomenon in which a band of reflected light, known as a cat's-eye, (chat = cat in French) moves just beneath the surface of a polished gemstone. Perfect for bolo collectors and geology enthusiasts, this Tiger's Eye bolo tie is a wearable piece of natural history and a gift they’ll treasure for decades.

  • One bolo tie
  • Handmade by us in the USA in our Detroit, Michigan studio
  • Each mirror-polished oval is approx. an inch and half at its largest point.
  • Slide clip on the back for easy adjustment
  • Total length with tips: about 38 inches

  • 2 inch silver-tone tapered cord tips with decorative embossing
  • Each is securely attached to the bolo hardware with aircraft grade, jeweler's cement bonding
  • The reverse side of the stone is coated in resin to act as a "bumper" to prevent damage while wearing or if dropped - and to further secure the hardware
  • Gift box included.

CORD SIZING: Default cord length is 38", but if your bolo-wearer is taller than 6'2" or has a very wide neck aka: "big and tall," you might consider 40-42" cord. If you'd like longer (or shorter) cord, send me a note and I'll be happy to customize that for you.

Geologically, Tiger's Eye is  a chatoyant variety of quartz - it has subparallel intergrowth of quartz crystals and altered amphibole fibers that mostly turned into limonite. They are closely related and essentially the same stone in different stages of formation. Tiger's Eye emerges when iron in the stone oxidizes into warm golden-browns.
