When the pine trees fell or were otherwise injured, sap/resin would flow and solidify over time. Carried by glaciers and prehistoric rivers, the resin eventually reached the Baltic and North Seas, where nature transformed it into amber—what is called "Lithuanian Gold." Amber is now found on land or washed ashore with driftwood, seaweed, and shells.
